Welcome – school vision

Welcome to Bugthorpe Church of England Primary School

Whilst we are not entirely sure of the original date , we do know that there has been a school in Bugthorpe for well over 100 years. In 1965 a new school was built on its current site, amalgamating three other smaller schools –  Bugthorpe, Skirpenbeck and Kirby Underdale.  The old school building in Bugthorpe became the village Estate Office.  Since 1965 further improvements have been made to the buildings.  In 2004, the office area was extended, creating an entrance hall, a Headteacher’s office, an Admin office and a staffroom.  In 2010, the kitchens were completely refitted and an extra teaching room (the Music Room) was built.  We now have further extended the Infant classroom, creating a purpose built Reception class, and an ICT room. In 2013 we were delighted to create a new carpark next to the school, and are very grateful to the Halifax Estates for their support here.

I hope that our website gives you a good idea of what our school. You are warmly invited to visit school, which will enable you and your child to meet the school team.  We are proud of our school and will be delighted to meet you, answer any questions, and let you get to know us better.
