Since September 2012 we have been in a collaboration with Sutton upon Derwent CE Primary School. Both schools share the same headteacher and work together closely for the benefit of families, staff and governors. The schools are a similar size, each having 4 classes and nursery provision. Although they are 11 miles apart, and based in very different villages, there are also many similarities.
We regularly meet up with our partner school – for example the oldest children from each school go on a joint residential trip together. We also visit each other’s classes at least once a year and sometimes pair up for sporting events.
The staff teams work together and have joint staff meetings and training sessions. We share resources too – which means extra for both of our schools.
There are many advantages in having a collaboration, and one of the loveliest things is seeing how much the children enjoy meeting up and making extra friends. This is especially important in the smaller year group cohorts. Parents are also getting to know each other more too at sporting and social events at either school or in our local area.
